What is this about?
The disclaimer first - I have never, ever posted on a blog.
The purpose of this blog is to talk about, and share all the things going on in the German community. German community includes the Austrians, Swiss, and Germans. I am not sure if you know this, but PDX has a huge German speaking community. We are expats, recent immigrants, children of immigrants...just amazing how many Germans, Austrians, and Swiss are living here.
I wonder if it is, as the Lufthansa add says, just like home but different? I know that's one of the reasons I love Portland.
So what kind of German things are in Portland? Here is just a short list
- German Playgroup meeting weekly
- German Saturday School
- German American School
- German Kinderschule (a preschool coop)
- German women group
- German American Society
- German American Journal
- Great German store
- German bakeries
Did you know that there are concerts put on by the German American Society bringing German speaking artists to PDX to perform. This blog is dedicated to talk about all German things, events, etc. in the greater Portland, area. Things that are going on in the German speaking community
